My popularity is increasing in Chicago due to my creativity in the glass world.
I am big on customer service and that includes not exploiting myths and made up terminology often used in the glass community to pull the sheep's wool over customer's eyes.
My art is one of a kind and I am always willing to try new things.
I use a glass called Borosilicate. It's commonly associated with the old Pyrex glassware but is also used in hundreds of applications because of it's durability under stressful conditions. The glass I use comes in 2 basic forms, rods (solid) and tubes (hollow). Borosilicate comes in all kinds of colors some good some not so good. I often hand mix different colors to achieve an even better color that suppliers don't offer. In order to work this glass you first need a torch. Now we're not talking about a little blowtorch you use for your elegant Creme Brulee. We're talking full on.... big-ol-daddio.... North American precision... made to rip through this glass in a few seconds. Of course it doesn't usually get that intense when you're actually working. It's a very methodical, sometimes slow, process to work the glass into the shapes you want. In the amount of time I've been melting I've been able to hold on the the reigns and progress through this beautiful art. No matter how much you think you know about your art there's always something new to learn or create.
